Düsseldorf Gluten Free Guide
Note: last updated in 2019. Please make sure to double check that restaurants are open and still able to cater.
We spent a day in Düsseldorf after a weekend with friends in Münster. I had seen on other blogs that there is a NoGlu, but I couldn’t find it so I think it may now have closed down. I did, however, manage to find a few gluten free hot spots on my whistlestop tour!
Isabella Glutenfreie Patisserie
This patisserie in a shopping centre had the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen, and they are ALL totally gluten free! It was so hard to choose, but I went for a thick, gooey, chocolatey mousse style cake with a hint of orange and a caramel centre, heavenly. You can also pick up bread here.
Vapiano
Vapiano is not unique to Düsseldorf or to Germany, as it exists in the UK too. Nevertheless, it’s a great stop for an easy gluten free meal. The gf options are clear on the menu, and they include gluten free pizza and pasta.
Cannoli stall at the Christmas Markets
If you are visiting Düsseldorf for the Christmas markets, keep an eye out for the gorgeous 100% gluten free Cannoli stall at the main Christmas market in the square. I picked up three equally delicious cannoli, and there were lots of other tasty looking biscuits there too.
